How to do it
Set up
- Adjust the seat so the knees align with the machine pivot.
- Place the lower pad above the ankles and secure your position.
Do the rep
- Extend both knees and raise the pad in a smooth motion.
- Lower the pad under control until you return to the start.
What counts as a rep
A rep counts when the knees extend to the machine stop and the pad returns to the seat-set start position.
One rep starts at the seat-set knee bend, extends both knees until the pad reaches the machine stop, and ends when the pad returns to the start position.
Breathing
Exhale as the knees extend; inhale as the pad lowers.
Cues
- Keep the hips on the seat.
- Move both legs together.
- Control the return.
Common mistakes
Hips lift from the seat
What you seeThe pelvis rises as the legs extend.
FixUse less load and keep the hips against the pad.
Supported hips keep the load at the knees along the machine path.
Weight drops
What you seeThe pad falls quickly during the return.
FixReduce the load and lower through the full range.
A controlled return maintains tension and prevents the stack from slamming.
Stop the set if
- Stop if you feel sharp pain.
- Stop if the hips lift or the pad returns without control.
- End the set when you cannot meet the stated range under control.
