How to do it
Set up
- Adjust the seat so the knees align with the machine pivot.
- Secure the thigh pad and place the lower pad above the heels.
Do the rep
- Curl the lower legs down by bending both knees.
- Return the pad under control until the legs reach the start position.
What counts as a rep
A rep counts when the pad reaches the seat-set curl stop and returns to the seat-set start stop.
One rep starts with the pad at the seat-set start stop, curls until the pad reaches the seat-set curl stop, and ends after a controlled return to the start stop.
Breathing
Exhale as the knees bend; inhale as the pad returns.
Cues
- Keep the thighs under the pad.
- Move both legs together.
- Control the return.
Common mistakes
Hips lift
What you seeThe hips move away from the seat as the knees bend.
FixUse less load and keep the thighs secured.
Supported hips keep the movement at the knees.
Weight returns quickly
What you seeThe pad pulls the legs back to the start.
FixReduce the load and control the full return.
A controlled return maintains tension and prevents the stack from slamming.
Stop the set if
- Stop if you feel sharp pain.
- Stop if the hips lift or the pad returns without control.
- End the set when you cannot meet the stated range under control.
