How to do it

Set up

  1. Lie on your back with the knees bent, feet flat and unanchored, and arms crossed over the chest.

Do the rep

  1. Curl the trunk up through about three quarters of the path to sitting upright.
  2. Stop before upright and lower until the shoulder blades return to the floor.

What counts as a rep

One rep lifts the trunk through the chosen partial sit-up range and returns the shoulder blades to the floor.

Breathing

Exhale through the effort and inhale during the controlled return.

Cues

  • Use the same top position each rep.
  • Keep the feet flat.

Common mistakes

  • Changing the range

What you seeEach rep stops at a different trunk height.

FixChoose a repeatable point below upright and lower slowly.

A repeatable range makes reps comparable.

Stop the set if

  • Stop if you feel sharp pain.
  • End the set if you must swing the arms or lift the feet.
