How to do it
Set up
- Set the pulley high and hold the attachment with both hands.
- Stand tall with the elbows beside the torso and the forearms bent.
Do the rep
- Press the attachment down by extending the elbows.
- Return under control while the upper arms stay still.
What counts as a rep
A rep counts when the elbows fully extend and the forearms return to about vertical without upper-arm movement.
One rep starts with the forearms about vertical, reaches full elbow extension without moving the upper arms, and ends with the forearms about vertical.
Breathing
Exhale as the elbows extend; inhale as the attachment rises.
Cues
- Pin elbows to the sides.
- Move only the forearms.
- Control the return.
Common mistakes
Elbows move forward
What you seeThe upper arms swing as the attachment rises.
FixKeep the elbows beside the torso.
Fixed upper arms keep the movement at the elbows.
Torso leans on the cable
What you seeBody weight shifts onto the attachment.
FixStand balanced and reduce the load.
A balanced stance prevents body weight from replacing triceps effort.
Stop the set if
- Stop if you feel sharp pain.
- Stop if the attachment slips or you must lean on the cable.
- End the set when you cannot meet the stated range under control.
