How to do it

Set up

  1. Loop a mini-band above both knees and stand with the feet wider than hip-width.
  2. Bend the hips and knees slightly and keep the torso steady.

Do the rep

  1. Step one foot forward and outward, then step the other foot forward and outward.
  2. Keep tension in the band and use small steps; return with controlled backward diagonal steps.

What counts as a rep

A rep counts when each controlled diagonal step by either foot counts once; count both legs together.

One rep counts when each controlled diagonal step by either foot counts once; count both legs together.

Breathing

Exhale during the effort; inhale during the controlled return.

Cues

  • Keep the knees over the feet.
  • Move at a steady speed.
  • Use a stronger band when the reps get easy.

Common mistakes

  • Rocking the torso

What you seeThe torso sways from side to side with each step.

FixTake smaller steps and keep the pelvis level.

Control keeps the work in the intended movement.

Stop the set if

  • Stop if you feel sharp pain.
  • Stop if the band slips or shows a tear.
  • End the set when you cannot meet the rep standard under control.
