How to do it

Set up

  1. Loop a mini-band above both knees and stand with the feet about hip-width apart.
  2. Bend the hips and knees slightly and keep tension in the band.

Do the rep

  1. Take a small step to one side, then bring the trailing foot in without letting the feet meet.
  2. Continue for the planned steps, then move the other way.

What counts as a rep

A rep counts when each controlled step by either foot counts once; count both legs together.

One rep counts when each controlled step by either foot counts once; count both legs together.

Breathing

Exhale during the effort; inhale during the controlled return.

Cues

  • Keep the feet facing forward.
  • Move at a steady speed.
  • Use a stronger band when the reps get easy.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the band go slack

What you seeThe trailing foot moves all the way to the leading foot.

FixUse smaller steps and keep the feet apart.

Control keeps the work in the intended movement.

Stop the set if

  • Stop if you feel sharp pain.
  • Stop if the band slips or shows a tear.
  • End the set when you cannot meet the rep standard under control.
